Tweet Theory

I tweet about #Software patterns and #Architecture. But I don't read those tweets. They're boring.

 Also, that's not why I'm on twitter. If I wanted to study , I'd open a book.

On the other hand tweets need to provide value, and software is what I know.

Hmm 🤔 

Then again, I love tweets that rail on React.  React is for pansies. 🥲

We need a #reactsucks hash that I can follow.

Actually there's some really good stuff in the #SoftwareArchitecture hash. 

(By the way, I need to get in the habit of tweeting #SoftwareArchitecture" I was afraid being more specific would narrow my reach but without the software prefix, I'm 100% in front of the wrong people. No one watching #Architecture is expecting anything software related and may even be put off by it. So Be more specific with your tweets )

I should follow it.  It's probably better than like, news.

But does the fact that I'm not naturally compelled to follow it, mean that it's bad to tweet about it?

It's good content, and I should follow it.  But if I wasn't tweeting about it myself, I probably wouldn't have followed it.

It's like the saying that the only people who watch #podcasts are podcasters. 

You aren't interested in it unless you're trying to leverage it yourself. 

Also you really need to be careful and tweet about things that your followers may have in common.

I think Software engineering and Gaming go well together so I can mix those two, but I wouldn’t want to weave in say politics.

Your tweets need to satisfy all or most of your followers all or most of the time

Finding a large intersection of the population that shares common interest in a diverse and  large number of topics is going to be tricky.

Now some may point at Elon Musk and say he tweets about everything. But then that’s kind of like the Joe Rogan thing too in the context of podcasters. Once you are big, you can tweet about whatever.

What works at level 100 is not the same as what works at level zero. 

I think a lot of podcasters and social media startups make that mistake. They look at what the big guys are doing, and they try to do the exact same thing.
