It's "Easy" to Keep a Population Ignorant of Anti Gravity

We're in a "false valley" from a learning perspective. We have to unlearn what we've learned to get to where we need to be to build these ships.  It's easy to keep a learning algorithm (Human Mind) in a false valley. Just keep re-enforcing it.

"Your people could build one of these now if they wanted to"   - Allan Lavigne https://youtu.be/VgDj1k0D0m0?t=3550

I wouldn't be surprised if our govt has unlocked anti gravity, and is intentionally keeping us in this false valley. All it would take is a few falsified published studies that were intentionally set up to fail, proving " no thrust" or something similar. If enough studies are already done, no one else does them. "Why waste the time? The study has already been done. It didn't work"

Then seize a few patent applications every few years. The tech stays safely locked in the hands of a few.

My understanding is that we are being limited by a simple misconception of gravity and inertia. We have a few subtle, and simple misconceptions about physics that are keeping us from the tech.

That's what I believe they mean in Allan's description. They mean it wouldn't require, "n layers" of technological advancement to build this. Its just a few days or years worth of effort to build one with our existing tech if we simply applied it in the right way, but we don't because we don't' think it's possible .

Example Misconception: Gravity Pulls, rather than Pushes

Take for example, a scenario where gravity actually pushed from above rather than pulled from below. If this were true, It may be that a pathway to negating gravity would be more intuitive if the phenomenon were conceptualized that way. It may be that such a conceptualization is more accurate and is therefore more conducive to advancement in understanding and capability. Proper solutions may be less intuitive if we have a misconception, and so we simply never unlock the tech.

This is an example that intrigues me. The idea being that gravity is more accurately conceptualized as pushing on us from above, rather than pulling us from below. Mass does not emit gravity, rather it filters an opposing push.  A subtle misconception such as this, or one like it, may be preventing us from unlocking the secrets of interstellar travel.

I'd be interested if there are other fundamentals that we are taking for granted.

EDIT: Reworded the provided example to better highlight it as such. Just one possible example of a fundamental misconception that could shield us from the truth.
