Are we an Idea Farm and/or a Gene Farm? ( Evolution Machines )

One theory that I had long ago, back when Aliens visiting planet earth was only a hypothetical for me, a thought that has occurred to many, occurred to me, which was, if "God Like" creatures existed what would they want with humanity? What would be the value of being here but not intervening?

This sprang up more from watching The Matrix, than from considering extra terrestrial intelligences coexisting with us in our reality.

What's interesting though, as I study the non human phenomena, is that the distinction in terms of the origin of the non human intelligence doesn't really change the question or its implications.

Whether we are in a digital sandbox, or a physical one, the question remains, why are we in the sandbox?

At some point it occurred to me, that creativity and diversity seem to require a degree of randomness and chaos. Sometimes, we get set in our ways and it is difficult to fathom technologies or concepts that are too far removed from our evolutionary timeline. It would be beneficial then, to run something similar to what are known as "ancestor simulations" or something akin to "The Matrix", for the purposes of simulating what other creatures we may encounter may be like, and what their technological advances are.

One thing that I hadn't considered, was that the simulation would conceivably be run IN base reality. On a real planet, that was controlled, but real, OR on a planet existing , shifted along some higher order dimension to an alternate physical dimension. ( as opposed to a virtual dimension like a computer simulated one ) . The thought had been of course, why would you run it in real time, when you can speed it up in a virtual dimension. Of course, if you can time travel, then speed doesn't matter.

Anyway, considering the benefit of simulating reality, physically or virtually, it was not a far leap, to infer, as Elon Musk and many before him have, that such simulations or "sandboxes" may be commonplace, and if they are, they may well be be more commonplace than naturally occurring ones.

i.e. We are probably in a simulation, but importantly, the reason for being in this simulation was as a sort of "Idea Farm". Ideas, like physical traits in an organism, evolve. And while evolution is slow, it does allow for the formation of "new" ideas that are far removed from one's current state. It allows a species to break out of "false valleys" in terms of understanding and learning and conceptualization of reality or perhaps even their own society. This in turn allows them to advance further or faster than they otherwise would be able to.

But what if ideas are not the only thing one can farm with an evolution machine? What about DNA?

What hadn't occurred to me back then, was that we may be valuable not just for the ideas we evolve, but quite simply for the actual DNA material that we evolved. That our genes may be as sought after as our alien perspective. I think I had the expectation that such creatures would already have what they wanted genetically. But of course, genes, like ideas, require evolutionary process to uncover something new. We may occasionally develop something on this planet that is new to them. And these traits may be useful.

The other thing that hadn't occurred to me, was that the simulation may be run in the same physical reality as those running the experiment, rather than in a virtualized one. And that therefore the "Gods" would not be the artificial intelligences running the Matrix, but rather extra terrestrial, organic entities from the stars, who are flying around over our heads, often visible to varying degrees, all the time.

The more I read in UFOlogy, the more hints I get that the reason they are here, and that they don't intervene, is that there is some sort of experiment going on here, and that DNA is involved. We are part of the experiment but not necessarily the most critical part of it. This of course aligns perfectly with the notion that Earth is a Gene farm.

Our societal and informational evolution may be of some interest, but what they are really after is just the raw genetic material developing all over the planet. Some of that within our human genome but most of it elsewhere.

Of course there may be other reasons for our culture specifically. Our intellect makes us capable workers, but not so capable as to be perceived as a real threat. Also we would be seen as a race of "others" which typically means "lesser". What this means is, we'd be a race of high capability, that would be exploitable as a lower working cast of sorts, with less moral or social issues in the engineering society because we are perceived as "lesser" beings.

We're smart enough to solve hard problems and serve efficiently, but not perceived as smart enough to revolt and resist, and there are fewer internal moral qualms with using us.

Now I often balk at the idea that we are slaves, because artificial intelligence would be more effective, easier to manufacture and maintain, and can be use din lower order forms that are not self aware, and yet are as capable as humans are at specific tasks, if not more so. This is a more ethical form of automation and frankly a more efficient one.

However, there may be social or cultural reasons why more classical types of slavery may be desired. And the races engaging in this type of practice may have little if any ethical objection to it. They may therefore use a mix of artificial intelligence and classical slaves depending on whether they need the intellect for simple automation or for some form of social service.

This is not great, but honestly if our own Earth society advanced to an interstellar level, I can't see us behaving any differently. There would be those of us opposed to slavery. But there would be those that aren't. History has made that pretty clear.. And it would be difficult, to, on a galactic scale, enforce laws regarding some kind of abolition of slavery. Which means it would almost certainly exist at some level.

Anything that would almost certainly exist.. likely does, and if slavery exists, lesser evolved species such as ourselves would almost certainly be the victims, and therefore likely are...

This is of course consistent with the general tone, theme and the hints that are found in UFOlogy throughout the decades.

It may not be entirely hopeless. We may have allies, as animals on our planet do in humanity. We may have species that want to see us free and help to ensure that at least some of us, are to varying degrees.
